Volunteer

with the White Rose Forest

Help grow Yorkshire’s woodlands and support communities for generations to come.

Every volunteer plays a part in shaping a greener, healthier future for North and West Yorkshire. Whether you’re planting a young tree, caring for a new woodland, or lending a hand at a community event, you’re doing something powerful.

You don’t need experience, just enthusiasm. Whether you join the White Rose Forest team for one session or come back throughout the season, your time and energy make a real and lasting difference.

Get involved

Book your place on a White Rose Forest event

The best way to get involved is to join one of our official White Rose Forest volunteer events in West or North Yorkshire.

These events are led by our team, fully supported, and open to everyone — no experience needed. Follow this link to book your place via Eventbrite.

Partner events

We also work closely with partners across Yorkshire who run additional woodland and nature‑based volunteer activities.

If you’d like to explore more opportunities in your area, we’re proud to signpost you to their events too.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering with White Rose Forest is a chance to do something real and meaningful for the places you love. It’s a moment to slow down, breathe in fresh air, meet new people, and feel part of a shared effort to restore Yorkshire’s landscapes.

People choose to volunteer with us because it:

  • Brings people together, creating community and connection
  • Directly supports wildlife and climate resilience
  • Creates a legacy that future generations will enjoy
  • Lifts wellbeing by spending time in nature

It’s rewarding, grounding, and genuinely impactful — a simple act that makes a lasting difference to the places we all care about

What will you do?

Our volunteer opportunities are hands‑on, easy to join, and suitable for everyone — whether you’re trying something new or already love spending time outdoors.

You might take part in activities such as:

  • Planting trees and hedgerows
  • Supporting woodland creation and care
  • Mulching, weeding, and protecting young trees
  • Helping at community planting days

We provide all tools, equipment and guidance.
You just need weather‑ready clothing, enthusiasm, and a willingness to get involved.
